Finance Manager
Status: Part-time permanent (0.5 FTE – 18.75 hours per week)
Hourly Wage: $61.00 per hour
Location: 171 East Liberty St. Unit 253, Toronto (Hybrid: in-person and remote)

Village Family Health Team – Liberty Village, Toronto
Village Family Health Team (VFHT) is an established primary care provider located in Liberty Village, Toronto. We serve our diverse local community, with a special focus on people with serious mental illness and addictions. We are currently seeking a collaborative, strategic, and highly organized Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations, planning, and reporting functions of the organization. This is a part-time permanent position with a competitive benefits package including HOOPP pension plan.
Position Summary
The Finance Manager oversees the organization’s financial operations, ensuring strong financial governance, accurate reporting, effective budget management, and compliance with all regulatory and funding requirements. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Finance Manager provides financial guidance and strategic insight to support informed decision-making across the organization.
In addition, the Finance Manager plays a key role in fostering a healthy, inclusive workplace culture and contributes to a collaborative, community-focused environment. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone who is passionate about strengthening organizational culture and supporting high-quality, team-based primary health care.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting:
Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with the Executive Director.
Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts; prepare variance analyses and recommend corrective actions.
Provide strategic financial insights to support organizational planning and decision-making.
Manage HOOPP pension administration and employee benefits.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies for internal and external stakeholders, including the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Ontario Health.
Oversee preparation of year-end working papers and support external auditors during the audit process.
Oversee general accounting functions (accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, journal entries).
Develop, implement, and monitor internal financial controls and policies to ensure strong fiscal accountability.
Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, accounting standards, contractual obligations, and funder requirements.
Monitor financial risk and recommend mitigation strategies.
Support procurement processes, contract management, and adherence to organizational financial policies.
Support capacity-building for staff on financial procedures, budgets, and reporting requirements.
Oversee and optimize financial systems, software, and reporting tools.
Lead process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and financial accountability.
Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of financial procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA designation or candidacy is required.
Minimum 3–5 years of working experience in accounting and/or finance at a senior level. Experience with in a non-profit, healthcare, or public sector environment considered an asset.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with QuickBooks.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills (written, presentation, and oral).
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interest with all levels of the organization, including external contacts.

High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.
